An absolutely beautiful day at Dublin High baseball field saw the Gaels take on the Irvington High School Vikings. The Gaels wasted no time getting started by scoring 5 runs in the first inning, and 6 more in the 2nd. With an 11 – 0 lead it was smooth sailing on the mound for Gaels starting pitcher Zach Lydon. Lydon cruised through 5 innings while giving up 0 earned runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 8 to improve his record on the mound to 2-0.
The offensive stat line for the Gaels was impressive as the bats got hot early. Fernando Sansone 2 for 4, 2 runs scored; Scott Grier 1 for 3, 1 walk, 1 run scored; Alex Gaela 1 for 1, 2 runs scored; Gabriel Chamberlain 1 for 4, 1 RBI; Christain Ah Toogn 2 for 2, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI; Brent Boyd 2 for 3, 1 run scored, 2 RBI; Ethan Liao 1 for 3, 1 walk, 1 run scored; Michael Cool 1 for 2, 3 RBI; and Koby Seely 2 for 4, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.
The win improved Dublin’s record to 4-0 on the season. The Gaels were feeling good about the start to their season and continued to stay focused by getting better one day at a time.
