The Dublin High School Girls Varsity Golf team won their eighth straight match by edging out Monte Vista 204 to 206. Kim Burch had the low score for the Gaels with a 38, while Jessie Burch and Annie Zhou clinched the dramatic victory by making a birdie and a par on the final hole. Dublin will be back in action next week with matches against San Ramon Valley and Foothill.
Not to be outdone, Dublin’s Girls Varsity Tennis team had its own dramatic victory this week by posting a 5-4 win over Foothill. Nirupama Suvararjjala won the decisive fifth match at No. 6 Singles 5-7, 6-0, and (10-7) in the 10-point tie-breaker in the 3rd set. The Gaels continued their momentum the next day with a 7-2 win at Granada that was powered by a sweep of all six singles matches. Dublin takes its 6-1 record into the season finale against undefeated Amador Valley on April 20th.
Another team looking forward to its season finale this week is the Varsity Football team. Following last week’s cancellation of their game at Amador Valley, the Gaels will be taking on their rival Dougherty Valley in the Battle for the Shelale, which is currently in Dublin’s possession following their 39-3 victory to close out the 2019-2020 season. In other news this week, Dublin’s Varsity Girls Lacrosse team won their second game of the year against an EBAL opponent after winning at Livermore 10-7 on April 16th. The squad will have three games next week to close out the season, including its Senior Night against Dougherty Valley on April 23rd. As Girls Lacrosse winds down its’ EBAL season, the Gaels’ Varsity Softball team is just about to start league play. They will take some positive momentum with them claiming their second straight victory after defeating Mountain House 14-2 on April 17th. Dublin’s EBAL home opener is on Tuesday, April 20th at 4:00 p.m. against Granada.
