Despite losing 11 players to graduation from last season’s historic CIF NorCal Open Division semi-finalist squad, Dublin’s Varsity Boys Basketball team continued its winning ways with two hard-fought victories against the senior-laden Foothill Falcons to open up the season.
In the season opener on May 7th, the Gaels broke open a close back-and-forth affair with some key stops in the final minutes to post a 60-55 home victory against the Falcons. The following evening at Foothill, Dublin trailed by as many as eight points in the 4th quarter when sophomore Courtney Anderson scored 15 points to help lead the Gaels from behind to win 59-51.
The Gaels are now poised for a week with 5 games where they will be taking on some of the toughest teams in Northern California. Dublin hosts Bellarmine on Monday, May 10th, Dougherty Valley on Tuesday, May 11th, Archbishop Mitty on Thursday, May 13th, and De La Salle on Friday, May 14th. All games will be live-streamed on GaelsTV and start at 7:00 p.m. (with the exception of the contest against Mitty where the game begins at 7:30). The week concludes with the back end of the home-and-home with De La Salle where they travel to face the Spartans on May 15th.
