Dublin High School’s Varsity Boys Basketball team capped a week in which it played the top teams in Northern California by sweeping De La Salle in back-to-back home-and-home games May 14-15.
The Gaels defeated the Spartans 63-57 at home on Friday night behind 24 points from Caleb Oden. The following night at De La Salle, Dublin trailed 56-54 late in regulation before Courtney Anderson Jr. hit a game-tying floater with :03 remaining to send the game into overtime. Dublin outscored De La Salle 12-1 in the extra period to win 69-57. Anderson was the game-high scorer with 24 points, while Oden added 17 points and Thomas Labat contributed 16 to lead the Gaels. The Gaels are now 6-1 overall on the season.
Dublin’s Varsity Boys Lacrosse team also capped a successful weekend by posting back-to-back victories. The Gaels went on the road to defeat Granada in their EBAL opener on May 14th by a count of 18-7 to build some momentum heading into Senior Day where three seniors with four years of Varsity experience were honored – Alec DiBiase, Alex Chau, and Eddie Padnos. The Gaels squared off against College Park in a game that featured several lead changes before Chau scored what provided to be the game’s decisive goal with under 8:00 remaining in the contest to help lift Dublin to a 10-9 over the Falcons.
In other action, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team narrowly dropped their first match of the season, giving perennial powerhouse Foothill and their 6’5 UCLA-bound recruit all they could handle before falling in 4 competitive sets 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 24-26.
