Dublin High School Athletics celebrated three separate “Senior Days” on Tuesday, May 18th, as the Badminton, Softball, and Boys Volleyball program all recognized the graduating members of the Class of 2021.
The Softball team honored Amanda Engel, Christina Herdman, and Aimee Thompson before their home contest against Foothill. All three players had been a part of the program all four years of high school and contributed to the team’s return to the postseason helping lead Dublin to an NCS playoff victory over Castro Valley in 2019. Despite the team’s loss to the Falcons on Tuesday, the Softball team boasts a roster that has at times started as many as 6 freshman. Combined with the revival of a JV team as well that finished the season on a high note with a victory over Livermore in their season finale, continued improvement and success is in store for the program.
Later that afternoon, the Dublin High Badminton team honored its 6 seniors: Aryav Balia, Carina Chen, Sunny Han, Deya Liao, Lemuel Sumardy, and Diya Suresh. The Gaels then proceeded to defeat Amador Valley 11-6 in a competitive match. Dublin’s final contest will be on Friday, May 21st at 4:30 p.m. against Clayton Valley. Similar to softball, the Badminton team returns most of its roster and figures to be even more competitive in 2022.
The final Senior Night celebration of the day was in Boys’ Volleyball, where Bennet Florentin, Evan Lyall, and Zachary Small were all recognized prior to Dublin’s straight set victory over 2019 EBAL champion Amador Valley. Dublin was dominant throughout as the team improved its mark on the season to 7-0.
In other action on Tuesday night, the Boys Lacrosse team continued its improve play and a 3-game winning streak into their final home contest of the year Amador Valley. Despite playing its 4th game in days, Dublin led 4-3 late in the 3rd quarter before ultimately falling to the Dons 7-4. Dublin will conclude its season on the road against Livermore and Dougherty Valley.
