The Dublin High School Varsity Girls Volleyball team handed undefeated San Ramon Valley their first loss of the season with a 3-1 win in the sweltering heat of the DHS Sports Complex. Dublin’s victory was particularly impressive given that many who volleyball observers have projected that San Ramon Valley is the favorite to claim an Eat Bay Athletic League title.
After winning the first set 25-20, the Gaels trailed for most of the second set before coming back to edge the Wolves 25-23 and take a commanding 2-0 advantage. San Ramon Valley took the third set 25-17 before the Gaels rallied to win the fourth set 25-20.
With the victory, Dublin improved to 3-2 on the season. The Gaels will head on the road for the next three matches, with EBAL contests at Amador Valley on September 9th and at Granada on September 14th before returning home to face Foothill on Thursday, September 16th. Dublin also added a nonleague matinee match at Castro Valley on Friday, September 10th at 4:00.
In other action on Tuesday, the Girls Tennis team lost a nail-biter to Monte Vista 5-4. Monte Vista prevailed after winning a grueling 3.5 hour doubles match in a 3rd set tiebreaker. The Girls Golf team also came up on the short end on Tuesday, falling to Amador Valley 205-227. Tennis is now 1-1 on the season while the G
