Athletics Roundup: Football Team Ranked; Tennis Wins, Volleyball and Golf Play Well in Defeat

Despite losing 30-20 against No. 7 California last Friday, Dublin played so well that it earned a position in the Bay Area News Group rankings. The Gaels are now ranked 25th in the entire Bay Area after completing a difficult nonleague schedule with a record of 4-2 overall.
Dublin now begins its league season by traveling to face Granada this Friday, October 8th. It is Homecoming for Granada and fans are asked to get their tickets online ahead of time using this link: https://gofan.co/app/events/379242?schoolId=CA22923
For students attending the game, a new policy has been instituted at Granada that all students must have their physical ID card in order to enter the game. Granada is also not allowing students to bring bags or backpacks into the game.
The Gaels’ East Bay Athletic League Valley Division schedule will continue with its Homecoming game against Foothill on October 22nd, which will be followed by a trip to Livermore on October 29th and its season finale on Senior Night at home against Dougherty Valley. If the Gaels can win its League it will automatically earn a berth into the North Coast Section playoffs.
In other action on Tuesday, the Varsity Girls Volleyball waged an extremely competitive battle at Carondelet before losing in five close sets 24-26, 29-27, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12. Dublin’s Golf team also had one of its best performances of the year by firing a 218 at Ruby Hill against Amador Valley, but ultimately still fell to the Dons by 11 strokes. The Girls tennis team continued its winning ways with a 9-0 victory at Livermore. Dublin’s Freshmen and Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball teams were also victorious, each running their record to an impressive 14-2 overall on the season.
