The Dublin High Varsity Girls Tennis team honored its 13 seniors on Tuesday afternoon (November 2nd) and then proceeded to defeat Dougherty Valley 7-2. Jessica Holbea, Niyati Ravi, Nirupama Suravarjjala, and Soha Ahmad all won their Singles matches, while the Gaels swept all three doubles matches with wins posted by Jahnvi Reddy/Ekaterina Lokteva, Shreya Sanadi/Ryka Dhawan, and Danica Lee/Jayani Jayakanthan.
With the victory, Dublin finished the season 11-7 overall and in a 4th place tie within the East Bay Athletic League. This is the third consecutive season in which the Gaels have compiled a winning record. There is a chance that the Gaels may still qualify for NCS, but given that there are only two divisions for tennis combined with the fact that there are so many other automatic qualifiers by virtue of being league champions, it may be difficult as there are very few spots remaining in the bracket.
Regardless of what happens with the NCS Team Tennis bracket, there are still opportunities for individuals to qualify for the NCS Singles/Doubles tournaments. The EBAL Singles/Doubles events takes place on November 4-5 at Crow Canyon Country Club, which will be followed by NCS Doubles Qualifying events on November 6th and 8th at San Ramon Valley High School. The action begins at 12:00 on November 4-5 and 10:00 on November 6th, and 1:00 on November 8th.
