The Dublin High School Varsity Girls Basketball team put together arguably one of the most dominant defensive performances over the course of three days in the program’s storied history, holding all three of their opponents to 15 points or less en route to a Lady Cougar Classic Tournament championship.
In the tournament opener against the host (Golden Valley of Merced), the Gaels held the Cougars to a mere 8 points on its way to a 49-8 victory. Dublin gave up its highest amount of points the following night (15), but prevailed by the exact same margin (41 points) as they defeated Beyer High School of Modesto 56-15. The Gaels concluded its unprecedented level of defensive prowess in the tournament championship game by defeating Madera 51-13.
The Gaels are now 3-0 as they return home for two games this week.
