Due to rising numbers of positive COVID cases in recent days from the omicron surge, several athletic events at Dublin High School and throughout the Bay Area have been postponed this week.
The impacted events this week which have been postponed include both the Boys and Girls East Bay Athletic League season openers against Amador Valley on Wednesday, January 5th. The Girls Basketball home triple header against Foothill on Friday, January 7th has also been postponed along with the Freshmen Boys Basketball game scheduled for that evening at Foothill.
Wrestling has been hit particularly hard by recent developments. Dual meets scheduled to take place at Amador Valley on January 6th and Dougherty Valley on January 11th have been postponed. In addition, this weekend’s JV Tournament at Liberty HS (January 8th) along with the Kermit Bankson (January 15th) and Mission San Jose (January 29th) Tournaments have all been canceled. Other events that have been canceled include the Boys Soccer JV/Varsity doubleheader against Castro Valley originally scheduled to take place on January 8th.
At this time, the events that are still scheduled to take place include a JV/Varsity Boys Basketball doubleheader at Foothill on Friday, January 7th (JV – 5:30; Varsity – 7:00). Several of the soccer matches scheduled for this week are also still taking place. Our JV and Varsity Boys are playing at Granada on Thursday, January 6th (4:00, 6:00) and our Freshmen Girls will be playing at Granada on Friday, January 7th (6:00). The JV and Varsity Girls Soccer teams will be hosting a doubleheader against Granada (12:00, 2:00), while the Freshmen Boys will also be taking the pitch on Saturday at Berkeley (11:00 a.m.).
All of the postponed home girls basketball games have been rescheduled. The Girls will now be hosting Amador Valley on Saturday, January 15tth, while Dublin’s home game against Foothill will now take place on Monday, February 7th. On both nights, Frosh will tipoff at 4:00, JV at 5:30, and Varsity at 7:00. All tickets previously purchased for Girls Basketball games this week will be honored for the rescheduled games. The Boys Basketball triple header at Amador Valley has also been rescheduled. Dublin will now travel to face the Dons on Saturday, January 15th at earlier times than normal with the Frosh tipping off at 2:00, JV at 3:30, and Varsity at 5:00). The new date/times for the JV/Varsity Wrestling Dual Meets against Amador Valley and Dougherty Valley are still TBD
