After falling to San Ramon Valley 3-0 less than 2 weeks ago, Dublin regrouped against the same squad in a showdown less than 2 weeks later with far greater implications as the Gaels defeated the Wolves 2-1 in the North Coast Section First Round contest at home on Wednesday night.
Dublin led 1-0 at intermission before San Ramon Valley scored the equalizer just minutes into the second half. The Gaels responded with the go-ahead goal and their stout defense prevented many legitimate Wolves scoring changes the remainder of the way. Jayden Albarran scored both goals for the victorious Gaels.
With the victory, #6 Dublin advances to the Quarterfinals of the North Coast Section playoffs where they will travel to Memorial Stadium in Napa on Saturday, February 19th at 7:00 p.m. to face #3 seed Vintage after they defeated College Park 2-1 in their first round contest. The Crushers beat Dublin 2-1 at Gaels Stadium in a nonleague match earlier this season. Vintage also defeated the Gaels 4-0 in the opening round of the NCS Division 1 playoffs in February of 2020.
If Dublin gets past Vintage, they will face the winner of the match between #2 seed Montgomery and #7 seed California on either February 22nd or 23rd.
