The Dublin High Girls Soccer team concluded their season on Wednesday night after dropping their North Coast Section (NCS) First Round match to California 2-1. Dublin jumped out to a 1-0 halftime advantage after a goal by Alana Albarran in the 28th minute, but the Grizzlies answered back with a goal to tie the match midway through the 2nd half and then scored what proved to be the go-ahead goal in the final minutes.
Despite the loss, Dublin has a lot to celebrate after finishing the season 14-6-3. The Gaels earned their first postseason berth since 2018 and posted the most wins the program has had since making it to the NCS Finals in 2012.
This season’s 3rd place finish in the highly competitive East Bay Athletic League is the highest the team has finished in EBAL since rejoining the league in 2016. Dublin started league play with a mark of 2-3-1 before going 5-1-1 down the stretch to finish with a league mark of 7-2-4.
In addition, Dublin’s defense produced a clean sheet in 13 of their 23 matches, a remarkable feat. With 20 Varsity returners and talent coming up from the Junior Varsity and Freshman ranks, the future of the program is definitely bright.
