The Dublin High School Girls Volleyball team won its North Coast Section (NCS) First Round match against 11th-seeded Vintage High School of Napa in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, and 25-18 at the Sports Complex on Tuesday night. The 6th-seeded Gaels jumped out early in each of the sets en route to its victory over the Crushers.
Rachel Grier and Brielle Rodrigues led the way on the offensive attack with 15 kills and 12 kills respectively, while Emily Mao and Lila Siale set the table with 11 assists and 7 assists. Dublin also had several aces and blocks on its way to a convincing win.
Dublin will now travel to face #3 seed Amador Valley on Saturday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. The Gaels lost their two regular season matches to the Dons, but the stakes are much higher with their next encounter as a berth into the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Tournament is on the line. Dublin and Amador Valley also squared off last season in the NCS playoffs, with the Gaels dropping a 3-2 semifinal match which was decided by a 15-13 margin in the 5th set.
In other highlights this week, the Varsity Girls Tennis team will have its Senior Day match against Foothill today (Thursday, October 27th) at 4:00 while the Football team is having its Senior Night against Livermore on Friday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. Recognition of seniors will take place before each of these contests, and recognition of seniors on the Sideline Cheer squad, Marching Band, and Color Guard will take place at halftime of the Varsity game. The Boys Water Polo team will be competing in its final game of the year on Thursday, October 27th at 4:30 at Dougherty Valley, whereas the Girls Water Polo team has concluded its season since the Wildcats did not field a program this year.
Looking ahead to next week, the Girls Golf team was selected to participate in the NCS Division I Championships at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park on Monday, October 31st, while the Cross Country team gears up for the East Bay Athletic League Championships
