Dublin High Senior Medha Gowda became the first ever female student-athlete in school history to win a league title, as she claimed the East Bay Athletic League title at the Championship meet on November 5th at Newhall Park in Concord. Medha led the race from start to finish and ended with a time of 18:31.
Melia Prenton came in 8th place with a time of 19:30 while Elissa Delgado finished with a mark of 19:56 to finish in 11th place, each earning 2nd Team All-League Honors and helping to lead the Girls team to a 2nd place overall finish at EBAL. The 2nd place team finish was also the best league result in school history. Although the Gaels are expected to get strong competition from both Dougherty Valley and Berkeley (among others), with another strong performance they are well-positioned to compete for a top two finish at the NCS Championships on November 19th to earn a return to the CIF State Meet.
This was the first time since 2015 that the Boys team didn’t claim an EBAL title (an unprecedented run of success), but there were some definite bright spots. Nathan Manesh finished in 7th place overall at 15:49 to come away with 1st Team All-EBAL honors, while Advait Jagannathan earned Honorable Mention at 16:46.
The Boys Junior Varsity team also come away with a 2nd place team finish with Fagu Jiang (17:52), Brandon Maskey (17:55), and Won Choi (18:04) all coming away with top 15 finishes. Other Dublin runners who finished in the Top 15 of the Frosh Soph races were Zayaan Lalani (Boys, 18:05) and Alessandra Yu (Girls, 23:05)
