In what can be considered the most successful overall day of the 2022-23 season thus far, Dublin’s teams went 7-0 on Thursday, December 1st. These results included a clean sweep by the Gaels’ Girls and Boys Basketball teams in the first round of tournament play.
The Varsity Girls Basketball team got off to a great start in its attempt to reclaim the Golden Valley Tournament title that they won last season by defeating Merced 61-22. Dublin’s Varsity Boys basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season after defeating Hayward 80-44 in the 1st round of the Todd Lichti Tournament and will be taking on the host Mt. Diablo this afternoon.
The Dublin Junior Varsity Boys Basketball followed up on its impressive victory over Archbishop Mitty on Tuesday by edging out Liberty 60-59 in the Freedom Tournament and will now face De La Salle in the Semifinals. In other tournament action, the JV Girls defeated Valley Christian of San Jose 70-33 in the Mission San Jose Tournament while the Freshmen Boys knocked off Oakland Tech 59-52 to advance to the Semifinals of the Ygnacio Valley Tournament.
Dublin’s other two victories on Thursday came in Boys Soccer, as both the Varsity and Junior Varsity team remained unbeaten after defeating Deer Valley by scores of 3-0 and 5-1 respectively. Earlier in the week, the Gaels notched wins over Arroyo by a margins of 4-0 (Varsity) and 8-1 (JV).
