At the midway point of the Wrestling season, several Dublin wrestlers have put together some outstanding performances for the Gaels.
Henry Baalman took first place among a challenging field at the highly regarded Lou Bronzan Tournament at Liberty High School in late December. Baalman was invited to participate in a tournament in Clovis this upcoming weekend that will feature many likely qualifiers for the CIF State Tournament next month. Lavenda Hafoka was also a top finisher in the Castro Valley Girls Wrestling Classic (JV).
Other top finishers at tournaments in the last two weeks of December include Christian Carandang, Lindsey Lew, Lana Nguyen, and Navjot Waraich – all coming in 3rd place. Carandang, Waraich, and Hafoka repeated their success with top six performances in additional tournaments, along with April Montoya and Ethan Cruz. In Dublin’s EBAL Dual Meet debut at home against Amador Valley on January 5th, Jordan Resultan, Max Lwin, and Chris Halket all posted victories for a short-handed Gaels squad.
The Dublin High School Wrestling program is looking forward to celebrating Senior Night next Wednesday, January 11th against Granada in the Sports Complex. The JV match starts at 6:00 and will be followed by a ceremony honoring the seniors before the Varsity match against the Matdaors starts at approximately 7:00. For those unable to attend but wishing to follow the action, it will be live-streamed on the Athletics website (www.dublingaels.com)
