The Dublin High School Boys and Girls Soccer teams each faced strong East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) competition this week, with the Girls forging two ties and the Boys suffering two narrow defeats.
The Girls started the week facing a Monte Vista team which had already defeated one of the Bay Area’s top teams (Carondelet). Dublin responded to the challenge by tying the Mustangs 1-1, but then the Gaels struggled in its ensuing match against Carondelet and lost 7-1. The Gaels responded from the rout by producing a clean sheet against a strong Foothill squad, but were unable to get on the board and ended up with a 0-0 tie.
Dublin’s girls will seek to avenge its tough loss to Carondelet on Tuesday, January 17th as it travels to face the Cougars. The Gaels will be back at home on Thursday, January 19th against California.
The Boys team started their week with a tough 1-0 loss at De La Salle and appeared to be headed to a 1-1 tie at Livermore before giving up a goal with under 2:00 remaining to lose 2-1. Dublin will return to Gaels Stadium for its first EBAL home match against De La Salle on January 17th before a road game against California on January 19th.
