Boys Basketball Remains Undefeated in EBAL – Set to Face De La Salle in Showdown of Top Teams

The Dublin High School Varsity Basketball team won its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, defeating California in the Sports Complex 74-64. The Gaels are now 14-6 overall and 3-0 in East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) action.

Dublin and California both came into the game ranked in the Bay Area’s Top 10, with the Gaels ranked 10th and the Grizzlies ranked 9th. California also was coming off of a win against 2nd-ranked San Ramon Valley last Friday, so the stage was set for a particularly compelling contest.

Although Dublin was on top for most of the first three quarters, the lead was slim as the Gaels were clinging to a 55-53 lead entering the final period. At that point, Jalen Stokes and Donovan Cooks took over, with Stokes scoring 8 points and Cooks adding 7 to help the Gaels outpace the Grizzlies 19-11 over the final eight minutes to help Dublin pull away for the 10-point victory.

Stokes finished with a game-high 24 points, Cooks had 18 points, and freshman Cameron Anderson finished with 16 points to lead the Gaels.

Dublin will now travel to face De La Salle on Friday, January 20th at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans knocked off USA Today’s top-ranked team in the country (West Linn – Oregon) on Monday and come in with a record of 16-4 overall (3-1 in EBAL).

The link to purchase tickets to Friday’s game will be open until Friday at noon ( or until sold out).  All remaining tickets will be made available to the public, if any.

At the conclusion of the of the JV game, the gym will be cleared for the varsity game and all spectators must leave the gym.  A Freshman/JV ticket WILL NOT get you into the varsity game.  You must purchase a varsity ticket to get into the varsity game.
