Roundup: Dublin Set to Battle for EBAL’s Top Seed in Friday’s Regular Season Finale

After trailing for the game’s first three quarters, Dublin’s Varsity Boys Basketball team battled back and pulled away late for a 60-44 home victory over Foothill on Tuesday night.

The Gaels trailed 38-33 entering the final two minutes of the 3rd quarter and close the gap to 1 point (38-37) entering the final period. Courtney Anderson Jr. hit 2 three-pointers to start the 4th quarter and help complete a 12-0 that put the Gaels on top 45-38. The Gaels proceeded to outscore the Falcons 23-6 in the final quarter to help put the game away.

Anderson led all scorers with 18 points, Mehki Thomas had 16 points, and Jalen Stokes added 10 points to pace the Gaels (18-7, 7-1).

Dublin will host Dougherty Valley in the regular season finale on Friday, February 3rd at 7:30. Following Friday’s win over De La Salle, the Wildcats are tied with the Gaels entering the final contest as both teams have identical 7-1 East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) records.

In other action on Tuesday night, the Varsity Boys Soccer team pulled away from Amador Valley in the 2nd half to keep their NCS hopes alive and defeat Amador Valley 3-0. The Varsity Girls Soccer team lost to the Dons 3-1 and the Varsity Girls Basketball team fell to Foothill 62-46. Dublin’s Boys Soccer team will be home against Foothill on Thursday, February 2nd (6:30), while the Girls will travel to face the Falcons. The Girls Basketball team will be on the road to face Dougherty Valley on Friday.
