Tournament Success, Senior Nights, Playoff Pushes Highlight Exciting Week for the Gaels

As the spring athletic season begins to wind down, multiple teams at Dublin High School have recently celebrated Senior Nights and have been positioning for the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL), North Coast Section (NCS), and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championships.

One team that has positioned itself for a potential EBAL title is the Boys Volleyball team. After a strong showing at the Bellarmine Tournament last weekend which saw the Gaels record victories over De La Salle, Los Gatos, and Monterey, Dublin has also won 7 consecutive matches in league play and currently has an EBAL record of 9-2 (17-4 overall). If the Gaels win their final two EBAL matches they will finish the regular season in 1st place of the Valley Division and have the opportunity to host the EBAL Semifinals and Championship next week (April 27-28).

The Baseball team is also positioning itself for a possible EBAL playoff berth. Dublin is currently 13-5 overall and 5-4 in EBAL, including some key 1-run victories in recent weeks against De La Salle and Amador Valley. The Gaels are battling the Dons along with Foothill and Granada for one of the EBAL playoff berths out of the Valley Division.

Dublin Baseball highlights the slate of action on Friday, April 21st taking place on campus as the Gaels will be hosting Foothill in a key matchup that will go a long way in determining the final EBAL standings. Another team at home on Friday is the Boys Tennis team (6-4 in EBAL), as they will be playing their final home match of the season against De La Salle. Both Baseball and Boys Tennis start at 4:00, while the Stunt Cheer team has its season finale against Monte Vista at California tonight at 7:30.

Despite losing their home finale on Thursday, April 20th to perennial powerhouse Granada, the Softball team has been playing better recently. The Gaels played for the Championship of the Tracy Tournament last weekend after wins over Millennium, Patterson, and West before falling to Freedom in the title game.

Three other teams that hosted their final events over the past week include the Swim, Boys Golf, and Badminton teams. The Swim Team and Boys Golf team each won their “Senior Nights” against Livermore while the Badminton team improved to 6-3 in EBAL with a 15-2 win over Quarry Lane. All three teams are gearing up for the EBAL Championship Tournaments taking place next weekend (Monday, May 1st for Golf).

Looking ahead to next week, the Track and Field team will have its Senior Night on Wednesday, April 26th when it hosts De La Salle and Carondelet (3:30), the Girls Lacrosse team will have its Senior Night on Thursday, April 27th when it hosts Oakland Tech (5:30), and the Boys Lacrosse Senior Night is on Friday, April 28th when it takes on Dougherty Valley (7:00).
