The Dublin High School Varsity Boys Volleyball team has an opportunity to make history tonight as it plays for its first ever East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) Championship. The Gaels will be at home against Foothill in the Sports Complex at 6:00. The winner of tonight’s match will also be the likely #1 seed in the North Coast Section playoffs that begin next week.
In Thursday’s semifinal match against San Ramon Valley, Dublin won in straight sets 25-16, 25-19, and 25-16. The Gaels were in control throughout the match after dominant performances by Ashton Florentin, Cruz Sanchez, and Kevin Zhu. Setter Travis Clemens set the table for the offense, and Mason McGowan had several key blocks to anchor the defense.
Tonight’s EBAL Boys Volleyball Championship match is not the only big home event taking place on campus this evening, as the Boys Lacrosse team will be hosting their Senior Night and season finale against Dougherty Valley starting at 7:00.
Dublin’s Baseball team will also be traveling to Livermore, as they face the Cowboys this afternoon at 4:00. The Gaels are currently 6-5 in EBAL (14-6 overall) following their 12-1 victory on Wednesday against Livermore. After their series against Livermore, Dublin will be hosting Mountain House on Saturday morning (11:00 a.m.).
Three other teams competing in EBAL Championships this weekend include the Boys Tennis team at the Club @ Livermore, and the Swim and Badminton teams at Dougherty Valley High School.
