Due to the recent rain and issues related to field conditions, there has been a change of date and venue for the Dublin High Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball games against Dougherty Valley.
Originally scheduled for today (May 3rd), the new date for both games is tomorrow (Thursday, May 4th) at 4:00 In addition, the Varsity contest will now be a home game for the Gaels, while the JV team will go on the road to face the Wildcats.
Dublin enters play this week with a record of 15-7 overall and 6-6 in East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) action. The Gaels still have an outside chance of making the EBAL playoffs, but they would need to defeat Dougherty Valley on Thursday and hope that Foothill defeats Amador Valley twice this week. Other scenarios which could see Dublin advance includes a win over the Wildcats combined with two losses each by Foothill and Granada.
The Gaels will conclude their regular season on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. against Newark Memorial in a nonleague contest that was rained out in March. This will now be Senior Day, with recognitions beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Regardless of whether they qualify for the EBAL playoffs, the Gaels are well-positioned to qualify for NCS. With wins in the final week against Dougherty Valley and Newark Memorial, there is also a good chance that the Gaels will earn their first home NCS playoff game in nearly a decade.
