After a narrow season-opening loss at Castro Valley, the Dublin High Girls Volleyball team has bounced back in a big way. The Gaels swept Pittsburg 3-0 last Friday, and then blanked Kennedy High School of Fremont 3-0 in their season’s home opener.
Dublin (2-1) opens its East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) season next week at home against Amador Valley on Tuesday, September 5th. The Freshmen matches start at 4:30, followed by Junior Varsity at 5:30, and Varsity at 6:30.
Next Tuesday, September 5th will also see the official launch of a brand new sport at Dublin High School – Girls Flag Football. The Gaels’ Girls Flag Football team will be having its inaugural games, hosting Foothill at 6:45 and Livermore at 8:00. Admission is FREE to all DHS students on what promises to be an exciting and historic night. In last Saturday’s EBAL Jamboree, the Gaels had very impressive performances and are predicted to compete for an EBAL title.
Three other fall programs which have begun EBAL play this week include Girls and Boys Water Polo and Girls Golf. In their final tune-up before Thursday’s game at Foothill, the Girls Water Polo team had a very strong showing in a game it nearly won before falling to American 12-9. Both the Girls and Boys Water Polo teams enter league action with overall records of 2-1, while the Girls Golf team was 1-0 before dropping their EBAL opener to Foothill.
