History will be made TONIGHT (Tuesday, September 5th) at Gaels Stadium as Dublin High hosts an East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) doubleheader with Foothill and Livermore. The Gaels looked strong in their recent Jamboree Scrimmage under the leadership of Head Coach Nakisha Harris, and are excited to host the sport’s inaugural events.
The action begins at 5:30 with Livermore taking on Foothill. Dublin takes the field at 6:45 where they will host Foothill, and then the Gaels host Livermore at 8:00 to cap the tripleheader. Tickets are $5 for adults, but all DHS students will get in for free (and the first 150 students get free hot dogs as well!).
The GoFan ticket link to purchase tickets can be found here. For those unable to attend in person, they can watch the live-stream on the Dublin High Athletic Department’s YouTube Channel “Dublin Gaels Live“.
Girls Flag Football isn’t the only action that Dublin High is hosting on Tuesday. Hard-core Gaels super-fans can start their afternoon at The Wave Aquatics Complex watching our Boys and Girls Water Polo teams take on El Cerrito (4:00/5:00), and then head back to campus and stop by the Sports Complex for the Girls Volleyball EBAL season opener against Amador Valley (4:30/5:30/6:30) before finishing their night at the Stadium watching Girls Flag Football.
Later in the week, the Girls Volleyball teams will be home again on Thursday, September 7th against Foothill (4:30/5:30/6:30), while the Dublin High Freshmen Football team will also be at home as they take on California at 6:00. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here and will be live-streamed on “Dublin Gaels Live”. Both of these contests along with all regular season athletic events taking place in the Stadium and Sports Complex throughout the year will be live-streamed on “Dublin Gaels Live” with limited exceptions.
Capping the week, the Dublin High Junior Varsity and Varsity teams begin the first of six consecutive road games as they travel to face Newark Memorial (4:30/7:00). For the first time in recent memory, each team has started the season 2-0, and when combined with the Freshmen team’s 2-0 start means that the program has an unblemished 6-0 mark to begin the year.
In Friday’s 49-14 Varsity Football home victory over Ukiah, big plays proved to be the difference for the Gaels. Dublin had two touchdown runs of 60 or more yards, had a 91-yard passing touchdown, and had two “pick 6’s” including one of 88 yards.
Senior wideout Elijah McDaniel had a particularly strong night. The senior caught four passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 82 yards and a touchdown. For his efforts, McDaniel was nominated by the Bay Area News Group (East Bay Times/Mercury News) as their Athlete of the Week. To vote for McDaniel, the link is here: https://wp.me/p7ShJJ-GqlY
In other action this week, the Dublin High Girls Golf teams take on Granada and Livermore, while Cross Country officially kicks off its regular season at the Ed Silas Invitational at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez.
