Fantastic Week for Girls Volleyball, Football Program’s Historic Success, and More!

The Dublin High Girls Volleyball team had a fantastic week after taking 2nd place in the Pittsburg Tournament and then following it up with a sweep in East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) action.

Dublin opened up the Pittsburg Tourney with four consecutive sweeps, knocking off Deer Valley, Clayton Valley, Casa Grande, and Northgate 2-0 before falling to San Ramon Valley 2-0 in the Tournament championship match. The Gaels proceeded to sweep both Livermore and Granada 3-0 to finish the week 6-1 to improve their record to 8-4 overall, 2-2 in EBAL. Dublin will be home on Tuesday, September 19th against Carondelet (6:30) before traveling to face Amador Valley.

In Football action, both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams battled on the road against a traditional power (Windsor) before giving up late touchdowns and suffering their first defeats of the season. However, with both teams winning their first three contests to begin the year along with the Freshmen team’s 3-0 start, it is believed to be the first time in school history that the three levels of the football program started the season a combined 9-0 overall.

The Freshmen Football team remained unbeaten at 4-0 overall after a convincing 48-0 home victory over Mountain House. Dublin will have a stiff test this Thursday, September 21st as it hosts a very physical team from Stockton (Cesar Chavez at 6:00).

The Girls Tennis team was the final program to begin its season last week, and they did so with an 8-1 at Livermore. Dublin then dropped a narrow 5-4 match at California that came down to a 3rd-set tiebreaker to decide the final match. Dublin will be back on the road this Thursday, September 21st at Granada (4:00).

Despite some tough results in EBAL action, the Boys and Girls Water Polo teams continue to enjoy success against nonleague opponents. The Boys went 2-1 overall in the Newark Memorial Tournament by notching a 15-4 win over Irvington and a thrilling 13-12 victory over San Leandro. Meanwhile, the Girls recorded home victories over El Cerrito (18-6) and Concord (17-3). Both teams have recorded four victories in their program’s first full season at the Varsity level, and they will be hosting California at The Wave on Thursday, September 21st (4:00/5:00).

Other Fall sports teams in action this week include Girls Golf with two matches at 3:30 on their Dublin Ranch home course against California (September 19th) and San Ramon Valley (September 21st). Girls Flag Football will be on the road vs. Amador Valley and Granada at Granada (6:45/8:00).
