Girls Tennis Moves into 1st Place of EBAL Valley Division, Upcoming Senior Nights

The Dublin High School Varsity Girls Tennis team moved into 1st place of the East Bay Athletic League’s Valley Division after defeating San Ramon Valley 5-4 in a home match on Thursday, October 12th. Dublin was powered by the strength of its singles lineup, as all five victories came from that part of their ladder.

With the victory, Dublin improved to 6-2 in EBAL play, but with the creation of divisions based upon “competitive equity” from the 2022 season, Dublin is in 1st place of the Valley Division. If Dublin defeats San Ramon Valley again on Monday, it will have the tiebreaker advantage over both the Wolves and California since the Gaels defeated the Grizzlies in their second head-to-head match. The winner of the Valley Division will earn an automatic bid to the North Coast Section (NCS) Team Tennis playoffs.

In other highlights from last week, Dublin’s Varsity Girls Golf team concluded it’s EBAL regular season with a win over Livermore followed by a loss on Senior Day to Dougherty Valley. The Gaels finished the season with an overall record of 7-7, but given its strength of schedule, individual scores, and a tournament title at the Antioch Invitational just last week, it appears highly likely that Dublin will qualify for an NCS berth when the teams are announced later this week. Dublin will be competing this week in the EBAL Championships at Tilden Golf Course, a tournament which will determine the Gaels’ final league standing.

The Dublin Girls’ Flag Football team also had a great finish to the week, as the Gaels defeated Livermore 26-0 behind 3 touchdown passes from Sydney Costello in the team’s final home game of the season on Wednesday. Dublin nearly knocked off Monte Vista as well, advancing just shy of the end zone as time ran out in a 13-6 loss.

Looking ahead to this week, Dublin will be celebrating two Senior Nights. The Girls Volleyball team will be honoring its seniors before their season finale against Dougherty Valley on Tuesday, October 17th at 6:30. Later in the week, the Girls Tennis team will be honoring its seniors just before their 4:00 match against Foothill on Thursday, October 19th.

In other home action this week, Boys and Girls Water Polo will be hosting Granada at The Wave on Thursday, October 19th (4:00/5:00), and the Dublin High Frosh team will look to expand on its 6-1 record as it takes on Amador Valley later that evening at (6:00). The JV and Varsity teams will go on the road the following evening to face the Dons (4:30/7:00), and the Cross Country team will be running in the Mariner Invitational at Hayward High School on Saturday, October 21st.
