Huge Victory for Girls Tennis on Senior Day, Girls Golf Makes NCS, More Fall Sports Highlights

The Dublin High Varsity Girls Tennis team is closing in on its first ever league title in school history after an impressive victory over Foothill on Senior Day on October 19th. Foothill came into the match with just one loss on the season, but the Gaels improved to 9-2 overall after posting a 5-4 win at home on Senior Day.

Dublin’s singles lineup was able to record four of the victories, as Maya Peav and Niyati Ravi won in straight sets while Kashvi Ravi and Danica Lee prevailed in 3rd set tiebreakers. With the team score tied 4-4, it came down to the Gaels’ #1 doubles team of Sehej Sandh and Khloe Tan, and they proceeded to win the decisive match.

The Gaels are almost certain of winning the East Bay Athletic League’s Valley Division, which carries with it an automatic berth into the North Coast Section playoffs. Assuming Dublin qualifies, it will only be their second appearance in NCS in school history and its first appearance since 2004. Dublin will play on the road this Tuesday, October 24th at the EBAL Mountain Division’s top team Monte Vista before finishing their regular season at Dougherty Valley on Thursday, October 26th.

Another Dublin team which punched its ticket to the postseason is the Girls Golf team. The Gaels qualified for its second consecutive NCS appearance and will participate in the Division 1 Tournament at Tilden Park in Berkeley on Monday, October 30th.

The Girls Volleyball team concluded its season on a positive note with a 3-1 victory over Dougherty Valley on Senior Night. The Gaels finished the regular season 10-11 overall, just one win shy of qualifying for NCS despite many key injuries throughout the year.

The Girls Flag Football team also had a good week as they defeated Livermore 26-8 before dropping a close game to San Ramon Valley 12-8 after losing to the Wolves 12-0 in their first encounter earlier this season. Dublin concludes its regular season at Amador Valley on October 24th, as they take on the Dons at 5:30 before facing Foothill at 6:45. Those final two games will determine Dublin’s seeding for the EBAL Tournament on October 28th.

In football action last week, the Frosh team improved to 7-1 overall after a 27-0 victory over Livermore, while the JV and Varsity teams both dropped to 4-4 overall after falling to the Cowboys. The Varsity game was a particularly wild affair as Dublin battled back from multiple deficits before ultimately falling short in a 45-34 defeat. The Freshmen team has a pivotal game at Livermore on October 26th, while the JV and Varsity teams return to Gaels Stadium the following night for the first time in 7 weeks to host the Homecoming games against Amador Valley (4:30/7:00).

The other big highlight for this week beyond Homecoming are Senior Days for Boys and Girls Water Polo against Dougherty Valley at The Wave Aquatics Complex on Thursday, October 26th. The Boys game is at 4:00 while the Girls play at 5:00, with senior recognitions for both programs taking place in between contests.
