Dublin Shines at Gaels Showdown, Successful Weekend for Basketball Program

The Dublin High School Wrestling program hosted its inaugural “Gaels Showdown” on Saturday, December 2nd, as hundreds of female wrestlers descended upon the Sports Complex and Auxiliary Gym for a thrilling day of competition.

Out of 24 schools which competed in the event, Dublin High School fared exceptionally well as a team by finishing in 2nd place overall. Lana Nguyen and Lavenda Hafoka led the way for the Gaels by finishing in 2nd place in their respective weight class, while Lindsey Lew and Alana Carlos earned 3rd place medals.

In addition to a great weekend for the Girls Wrestling team, the Girls Basketball team also had an outstanding weekend. Dublin jumped out to a 33-11 lead, and then went on to defeat San Leandro 55-26 on Friday night in the Sports Complex. Kenya Craven led all scorers with 17 points, freshman Gaia Lembo tallied 13 points and 7 steals, while Sydney Muther was dominant on the glass with 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Freshmen Boys Basketball team had a narrow 1-point semifinal loss but still went 2-1 on the weekend to finish in 3rd place at the Ygnacio Valley Tournament.
