Soccer Highlights Busy 1st Week of 2024, EBAL Opener for Wrestling; Basketball Tourney Recaps

Despite the fact that it is still Winter Break, the first week of January will be tremendously busy on the campus of Dublin High School, with soccer doubleheaders taking place everyday between January 3-6.

The Girls program opens up the action with a home doubleheader TODAY (Wednesday, January 3rd) against Castro Valley, with JV kicking off at 4:00 and Varsity at 6:00. This will be followed by a matinee affair on Friday, January 5th as the Gaels host James Logan High School (10:00 a.m./12:00 p.m.). Dublin’s Varsity team heads into the week 3-1 overall after a 17-day break, while the Junior Varsity team is undefeated at 5-0-1.

Dublin’s Boys team will be at home on Thursday, January 4th against Heritage (4:00/6:00) and on Saturday, January 6th against American (3:00/5:00). The Varsity team comes into the week 3-3-2 after splitting matches last week against San Leandro and James Logan. The JV team comes in with just one loss following a narrow 0-1 setback against De La Salle last Friday.

In other action on campus this week, the Girls Basketball program will be hosting a late afternoon doubleheader TODAY (Wednesday, January 3rd) with the JV team squaring off against San Lorenzo (4:00) while the Varsity team battles Jesse Bethel (5:30). The Varsity team comes into today’s game after winning their final game of the West Coast Jamboree 57-44 against Casa Grande.

Two programs going on the road this week are the Boys Basketball teams and Wrestling teams. The Varsity team went 2-2 in the Gold Division of the prestigious Classic at Damien in LaVerne, defeating Lone Peak of Utah 68-65 and Hillcrest of Idaho 87-50. Dublin is 12-3 overall heading into road contests at San Rafael TODAY and Ygnacio Valley on Friday, with both games tipping off at 7:00. These will be the final tune-ups for the Gaels heading into East Bay Athletic League play next week. Meanwhile, the Wrestling team opens up EBAL action in a Dual Meet at Amador Valley on Thursday, January 4th, with the JV starting at 6:00 and Varsity immediately following.
