Senior Nights for Wrestling, Girls Soccer, and Boys Basketball

It is a time of celebrations for Dublin High School Athletics as it hosts Senior Nights honoring those competing in their final home regular season contests. The Wrestling team was the first of the winter sports to recognize eight seniors in the Gaels Dual Meet against Granada on January 17th, and two more Senior Nights are scheduled for this week.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team will host its Senior Night celebration on Thursday, January 25th at approximately 6:00 pm. before taking the pitch at 6:30 to host Amador Valley. Later that same evening, the Varsity Boys Basketball team will honor its seniors at 7:15 before tipping off against the Dons at 7:30.

The Girls Soccer team posted 0-0 ties last week against Foothill and Carondelet and remain in the hunt for a North Coast Section berth with an overall record of 3-3-4, while the Varsity Boys Basketball team comes into the week with an overall record of 17-4 (3-1 in EBAL) after defeating Foothill 68-41 before a narrow loss to De La Salle 46-43 on Friday. Both teams have one more home contest prior to Senior Night as they host San Ramon Valley on Tuesday, January 23rd (Girls Soccer at 6:30, Boys Basketball at 7:30).

This week’s home action concludes with a Boys Soccer tripleheader on Saturday, January 27th, with the Gaels hosting Granada (2:30/4:30/6:30). Dublin is currently 5-6-3 overall and looking to get back to .500 this week in hopes of becoming eligible for an NCS berth.

Another team fighting for NCS seeding is Girls Basketball, who heads into the week with a record of 13-7 overall. Last week’s action was highlighted by a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Foothill, where Dublin overcame a 35-24 deficit midway through the 3rd quarter to prevail 53-47. The Gaels will go on the road for three games, traveling to face San Ramon Valley and Amador Valley in EBAL action before concluding the week in the Alameda Showcase against Chico.

One other exciting development from last week included the JV Boys’ victory over De La Salle. The Gaels jumped out to a 16-point lead and withstood a late Spartan rally to remain unbeaten in EBAL.
