Dublin High School Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Troy Franklin as the new Varsity Boys Lacrosse Head Coach. Franklin has over 15 years of coaching experience in the sport of soccer, and has more recently become involved in the sport of lacrosse as his sons began playing. In addition, Franklin is a long-time teacher in the Dublin Unified School District who works at Dublin Elementary School, and is well-connected with the local community.
Assisting Coach Franklin this season will be Spencer Beattie, a former standout player at Dublin High who graduated in 2014. Coach Beattie will work primarily with the defense and the Junior Varsity team if the numbers warrant the creation of one. Dublin High teacher John Parsons will be the other assistant coach who will be helping 1-2 days per week as his schedule permits. Parsons has experience playing in college and was the previous Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse coach in the mid-2010’s before joining the military and deploying out of the area.
There will be a meeting for all those interested in trying out for Boys Lacrosse on Monday, February 5th at 4:00 p.m. in the Leadership room (E-6). The first day of tryouts is tentatively set for Tuesday, February 6th at 7:30 p.m., but may be adjusted due to potential soccer matches which may be scheduled next week.
