Stunt Senior Night, EBAL Openers, and Dublin Distance Fiesta Highlight Busy Week

It’s hard to believe that the first of our spring athletic season Senior Nights is upon us, but the Stunt Cheer squad will be hosting its one and only home event of the season TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 12th). The Gaels will be taking on Foothill at 7:00, with the recognition of seniors taking place shortly before the contest starts. This will be a part of a quadruple header of Stunt Cheer action among East Bay Athletic League teams to open up the season, as the teams rotate opponents and every school hosts at least 1 competition every Tuesday and Friday until the season concludes on April 19th.

The other major event taking place this week is the Dublin Distance Fiesta, a two-day event that runs from 2:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15th and goes from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th. This is the largest event over as more than 200 schools and 6,000 athletes will be descending upon Dublin for the 22-hour event.

Tickets for tonight’s Stunt Cheer competition are $5 for adults and free for students with ASB stickers and those with Boosters’ Digital Sports Passes. The cost for single-day admission to the Dublin Distance Fiesta is $13 for adults and $6 for kids ages 4-13, DHS students with ASB, and seniors over the age of 60. Two-day passes will be sold for $20 each. Passes and ASB stickers will not be accepted for the Dublin Distance Fiesta.

Other highlights of a busy sports week include the start of the EBAL season for both Softball and Baseball. The Varsity Softball team will have its EBAL home opener this afternoon (Tuesday, March 12th) against perennial power Granada, while Dublin goes on the road to face California on Wednesday, March 13th to begin league play. All EBAL games are slated to start at 4:00.

Dublin’s Swim team will also be home this week hosting Granada at The Wave on Friday, March 15th at 4:00, while Dublin’s Boys Tennis and Golf teams each have two home events this week. The tennis team will be hosting Dougherty Valley this afternoon (March 12th) followed by a home match against Amador Valley on Thursday, March 14th. The Gaels’ Golf team will be on its home Dublin Ranch course taking on Monte Vista (today) and De La Salle (Thursday).
