Dublin Softball and Baseball Off to Great Starts to EBAL Season

The Dublin High School Softball and Baseball team each won their opening game in the highly competitive East Bay Athletic League.

Dublin’s victory in Softball was particularly impressive given that their opponent Granada came into the contest as the 3rd ranked team in the entire Bay Area. The Matadors also beat the Gaels by wide margins in both of their games last season, but it was the Gaels who prevailed 9-4 in their home EBAL opener on March 12th. Sarah Bull led the way for Dublin by going 4-for-4, including doubles in the 1st ad 5th inning to help power the offense.

Despite a narrow 4-3 loss at Amador Valley in their next game, the Gaels have looked poise to make a run towards a North Coast Section playoff berth. Dublin has two road games this week against two other top contenders in EBAL, traveling to face Foothill on March 19th and Livermore on March 21st.

In Baseball, the Gaels turned in a gritty performance at California to outlast the Grizzlies in extra innings by a score of 4-2. Dublin parlayed that win into an outstanding weekend in which it defeated Monte Vista 9-2 in their home EBAL opener on March 15th, and then capped a successful week by knocking off Archbishop Mitty 8-2 in the final game of the Hallet Tournament.

The Gaels are now 5-3 overall on the season and will take their 3 game winning streak on the road as they travel to face De La Salle. The Spartans were the 2023 North Coast Section champions, but Dublin defeated De La Salle in their only head-to-head matchup last season. Dublin will conclude the week on March 22nd at San Ramon Valley
