This has been a great start of the week for Dublin High Athletics with multiple teams posting wins to start the most successful week of the spring sports season.
Dublin’s Badminton team got things started in rare Monday action with a hard-fought 10-7 win at California. It was the Gaels’ doubles teams which proved to be the difference as Dublin notched sweeps to tally 6 of the team’s points. Shiven Sarda overcame a loss in his first set to win a tight 3-set match 14-21, 21-12, 21-17, while Snehal Umrigar prevailed in a close 2-set battle 21-19, 21-18 to help provide the margin of victory.
The Gaels’ Badminton team followed up Monday’s win with a convincing 15-2 victory over San Ramon Valley on Tuesday. Dublin has now won four matches in a row to improve to 5-2 overall and carries some positive momentum into its final match before Spring Break as they prepare to host Clayton Valley TODAY at 4:30 in the Auxiliary Gym.
Another team which improved to 5-2 overall on the season is the Girls Lacrosse team following its 13-2 home victory over Livermore at home on Tuesday night. Ala Cross was the game’s top scorer with 4 goals, Morgan Overton and Kristen Chun added 3 goals apiece, and Khamille Hart Smith contributed 2 goals to help power a balanced Dublin offensive attack.
Capping off a successful night, the Boys Volleyball team won its first EBAL contest of the season, compiling a 3-0 sweep at California. The Varsity team’s victory comes on the heels of an impressive showing by the program’s Junior Varsity team in the De La Salle Tournament where it came in second place against stiff competition. The Junior Varsity team is now 13-5 overall this season.
The Boys Volleyball team will be back in action TONIGHT at home in the Sports Complex against Livermore (5:30/6:d0), while the Girls Lacrosse team takes its unblemished 2-0 EBAL mark on the road this Friday, March 29th at 7:00 taking on Monte Vista.
