The Dublin High School Varsity Baseball team just concluded its busiest week of the season, going 3-2 over the course of the week including a monumental road win at Foothill.
Dublin’s 7-4 win at Foothill last Thursday was the program’s first against the Falcons since 2017. The 4th inning proved to be the decisive one for the Gaels as they scored 4 runs to jump out to a 6-0 lead which it never relinquished.
Sophomore Brandt Nunemacher was the catalyst for the Gaels at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Noah Charlton and Wyatt Metz each collected 2 hits apiece to also help lead a Gaels attach which had 10 hits. Desi Lopez earned the win for Dublin by limiting the Falcons to just 2 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Following the win at Foothill, the team drove down to Atascadero on Easter Sunday for their annual tournament. After a rough opening day which saw Dublin fall to both the host as well as South Torrance, the Gaels responded in their last two games with two shutout victories over Oxnard (8-0) and Colusa (6-0) to conclude the week on a high note.
Dublin is now 8-7 overall on the season and 2-3 in East Bay Athletic League action. The Gaels have a series against Livermore the week following Spring Break which will go a long way in determining whether they will qualify for the postseason. Dublin will play at Livermore on April 10th and then return home for “Little League Day” on Friday, April 12th. First pitch for both games is at 4:00.
The Girls Lacrosse team is also on the cusp of what would be its first NCS berth since 2016. Despite losing to Monte Vista last Friday, the Gaels are still 5-3 overall entering the upcoming week. Dublin will play host to California on Tuesday evening (April 9th) at 7:00 before traveling to face Carondelet on April 12th.
Other teams generating momentum and racking up wins on the Thursday before Spring Break were Badminton and Boys Volleyball. The Badminton team won its 5th game in a row to improve to 6-2 overall on the season after defeating Clayton Valley 17-0. Meanwhile, the Boys Volleyball team capped an undefeated week by sweeping Livermore at home 3-0, avenging an early season 1-3 loss to the Cowboys.
