Dublin Softball Team Unbeaten at Tracy Tournament, Big Week Ahead for Gaels Athletics

Despite dealing with multiple rain delays, postponements, and scheduling changes, the Dublin Varsity Softball team remained focused throughout and finished the Tracy Tournament with a record of 2-0-1 to improve to 8-4-1 overall on the season.

The Gaels won the opener of the tournament in dramatic fashion on Kensington Abrew’s walk-off inside-the-park home run to defeat a strong Gregori squad from Modesto 1-0. Kelly Maggiora turned in her biggest game of the season on Thursday, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits over seven innings pitched. As if that’s not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her eighth in a row with less than two walks allowed. This year, Maggiora has an ERA of 2.96 over 45.7 innings pitched.

Dublin had to wait over 48 hours before taking the field again, facing off against Vintage of Napa on Saturday evening. In a potential preview of what may be an NCS Division 1 playoff game, Gaels jumped out to a 2-0 advantage but gave up two runs in the 6th and ended up finishing in a 2-2 tie against a team currently ranked 4th in Division 1 by Maxpreps.

The Gaels finished the tournament strong with a 12-1 win over Big Valley Christian late Saturday night. Kelly Maggiora pitched a complete game to earn the win while also racking up two hits. Sarah Bull hit a 3-run home run while Brooke Felbinger tallied 4 RBI to help lead the Gaels offensively.

Dublin Softball will return home for East Bay Athletic League action on Tuesday against Carondelet (4:00). Other teams at home on Tuesday include Badminton against San Ramon Valley (4:00), Boys Tennis taking on Livermore (4:00), and Girls Lacrosse hosting California (7:00).
