Athletics Update: Senior Nights, Hole-in-One, Scheduling Updates, and Much More!

The Dublin High School Swim team celebrated its seniors in a pre-meet ceremony prior to taking to the pool against Livermore at the Wave Aquatics Complex last Friday. Dublin has had a very successful season thus far, winning in combined scores for all of their meets this season with the exception of one lone narrow loss at Amador Valley. The Gaels have won final dual meet at Dougherty Valley this Friday, April 19th before entering the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) Championships the following weekend.

Dublin High Boys Lacrosse will be the next team to honor its two seniors (Nolan Flynn and Colin Franklin) as they take the field for their final home contest against San Ramon Valley this Tuesday, April 16th (7:00). The Gaels will have their final three games on the road.

In addition to the Boys Lacrosse Senior Night, this week will feature some rare Monday home action due to contests being rescheduled following the recent storms. The Varsity Home Baseball team will be making up an EBAL home game against Foothill that was rained out on March 27th, while Girls Lacrosse is hosting Bishop O’Dowd to make up for a nonleague game at Dougherty Valley originally scheduled on March 15th. First pitch is at 4:00 followed by the first face-off at 6:30.

The Gaels Baseball team defeated the Falcons 7-4 in their previous encounter on the road earlier this season, and both Baseball and Girls Lacrosse are currently on the bubble for making the North Coast Section playoffs as they are both hovering near the .500 qualifying mark. Entering Monday’s games, the Varsity Baseball team has an 8-9 overall record while the Girls Lacrosse team is 5-5, giving postseason implications to every contest in the final weeks of the season. Both teams will also be at home on Friday, April 19th against Amador Valley with Baseball at 4:00 and Girls Lacrosse at 7:00. The Stunt Cheer quad will also be taking on the Dons in their season finale that night at California High School (8:30).

Another team looking to qualify for an NCS bid is the Varsity Softball team. Dublin is now 9-5-1 overall following a week which saw the Gaels defeat Carondelet 7-0 and then fall to one of the Bay Area’s top-ranked teams (California, 4-1). The Gaels will travel to face San Ramon Valley on Tuesday before returning home to host Monte Vista on Thursday, April 18th at 4:00.

The Varsity Boys Volleyball team will also be hosting the Mustangs on Thursday, with first serve taking place at approximately 6:30 in the Sports Complex. Following a historic season which saw the program post a record number of victories, the Gaels had a slow start as many of their key players graduated or transferred. However, Dublin has hit its stride in recent weeks, taking a set off of one of the state’s powerhouses (Mater Dei), challenging the EBAL’s top team (Foothill), and then taking the first 2 sets from the EBAL’s 2nd place team (Granada) before falling 3-2.

Despite all of the exciting developments with our Varsity team, the biggest accomplishment of the week came from JV Boys Golfer Rishal Mistry. Mistry shot a Hole-in-One in Dublin’s match on Wednesday, which is likely the first time that has happened in a match in school history. Dublin’s Varsity team also had a good week, shooting a 417 as a team and finishing 6th out of 18 participating squads in the Gambetta Invitational at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch.
