Dublin High School had a strong showing in multiple North Coast Section (NCS) and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championship events over the course of the past week.
Kaitlin Lee returned to the CIF State Swim Meet in Clovis last weekend, and was joined this year by Ben Ohrr after his outstanding performance the previous week in the NCS Meet. While we will lose Kaitlin to graduation, Ben will be back next year as he is only a junior. The Swim team improved this season by winning all of its dual meets with just one defeat. Another milestone worth noting is that this was Coach Greg Rodriguez’s final season after 18 consecutive years coaching high school swim (10 at Dublin) as he felt it was time to take a break.
In North Coast Section action, Dublin had 5 Badminton players qualify for this weekend’s CIF Northern California Regional championships at Newark Memorial High School. The Girls’ Doubles duo of Bella Meng and Angelina Wu finished in 2nd place in the Division 1 tournament, Singles’ player Jasmine Yeung finished in 3rd, and Dublin’s Mixed Doubles Pair of Philip Chu/Sahasra Gajula ended up in the top 6 to qualify as well. Meanwhile, Dublin golfer Dario Diaz shot a 76 in the NCS Division 1 tournament, just 2 strokes off the pace to qualify for the CIF/NorCal Championships. Diaz is only a junior though and will have another opportunity next season.
