Dublin High School Athletics is pleased to announce that Rachel Knowles has been hired as its new Head Varsity Swim Coach to replace Greg Rodriguez. Coach Rodriguez opted to step down and take a break from high school coaching after 18 consecutive seasons on the pool deck (the past 8 at the helm of the program at Dublin High).
Coach Rachel Knowles grew up in the Bay Area and competed in local, regional, and international swim competitions. She represented both Pleasanton Seahawks and Team USA in World Cup Events in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Israel. Closer to home, Coach Knowles was also the Varsity Captain of Amador Valley High School’s Swim team for three years where she rallied behind both new and experienced athletes at interschool, EBAL, and NCS meets.
Beyond building a competitive swim program at Dublin High, Coach Knowles’ commitment to the sport has now evolved to encourage more participation and spread the love of swimming to other high school athletes. Outside of coaching, Rachel works as an English Language Arts teacher at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville. She sees her role as an educator to encompasses a passion for maintaining high ethical standards and cultivating a student-driven, equity-focused approach and aims to bring these skills and passions to Dublin High School as our Swim coach.
Coach Knowles will be having a team meeting and discussing the program’s off-season strength and conditioning schedule sometime shortly after Labor Day. Until then, if anyone wishes to contact Coach Knowles via email, she can be reached at rknowles1997@gmail.com
