Busy Slate of Events This Week to Begin the 2024-2025 Athletic Season

After two weeks consisting mostly of try-outs, practices, and a handful of scrimmages, the 2024-2025 athletic season is about to launch in a big way this week. Six of Dublin’s eight Varsity programs will be in action, including several which will be hosting their home openers.

The excitement begins on August 26th as Dublin High will play host to a rare Monday event with the Girls’ Volleyball team taking on Castro Valley in a triple-header (4:30/5:30/6:30). Season openers will also be hosted at The Wave for the Dublin High Girls and Boys Water Polo teams the following day (Tuesday, August 27th) with the Gaels taking on West High School of Tracy (5:00/6:00).

Dublin’s fastest growing program will take the field on Thursday, August 29th as Dublin travels to face Freedom of Oakley. Thursday’s game will see the launch of its Junior Varsity team when their game starts at 4:15, with the Varsity game slated to start at 5:30. In other Football action on Thursday, the Dublin High Freshmen team (tackle) will be hosting Campolindo for its season opener at 6:00.

The Napoleon Kaufman era in Dublin Football will begin on Friday, August 30th when the Varsity team kicks off at Berkeley High School (7:00). The Varsity game will be preceded by the JV game at 4:30. Both teams travel to face Ukiah on September 6th before returning for their home openers on Friday, September 13th against Heritage (4:30/7:00).

The opening week of events concludes with Cross Country squaring off at Hayward High School in a scrimmage on Saturday, August 31st. This will be a good opportunity for the Gaels to run on the same course they will be at later in the season for the Wilder Mariner Invitational (October 19th) and more importantly the North Coast Section Championship Meet on November 23rd.

Two fall sports whose seasons will begin in September include Girls Golf and Girls Tennis.
