Last week saw six of Dublin’s fall programs start their season, with the Boys and Girls Water Polo teams, Girls Volleyball teams, Freshmen Football team, and Cross Country all recording victories.
The first victory of the year for Dublin High Athletics was recorded by the Girls Water Polo team, as the Gaels defeated West High School of Tracy 14-1 on Tuesday afternoon at The Wave Aquatics Complex. This was followed by the Boys Water Polo team posting a 17-2 win over West later that evening.
After falling to Castro Valley in its opener on Monday, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team responded in a big way on Thursday with a 3-0 win over Arroyo with convincing set scores of 25-5, 25-12, and 25-9. The Freshmen team also won its first match of the year by defeating Emerald 25-4, 25-10, and the Junior Varsity team won both of its matches last week to finish the week 2-0. In other action that evening, the Freshmen Football team defeated Campolindo 19-7.
At a scrimmage hosted by Hayward High School on Saturday, August 31, 2024, our Dublin Gaels Cross Country Team also opened up their season with victories for both the Boys and the Girls Teams.
Coming off of a season where it won the North Coast Section Division 1 title, the Boys Team used their amazing depth to knock off Miramonte 29-31 in a nail biter! This win is particiularly impressive given that Miramonte is ranked as the #1 overall team in the North Coast Section by SportStars Magazine.
The Girls Team, showing great composure after having their start pushed back 20 minutes and having to race with the boys, were able to win the race, defeating East Bay Athletic League rival Carondelet 32-40.
