The excitement is palpable as our Cross Country teams prepare to compete in the North Coast Section Championship meet this Saturday, November 23rd at Hayward High School. Going into the competition, the Boys team is ranked 1st in NCS Division 1 while the Girls are ranked 3rd. The top 3 finishers in each Division will advance to next weekend’s CIF State Meet.
The Gaels had a strong showing at least weekend’s East Bay Athletic League Championship meet. The Boys were edged out by one of the nation’s strongest teams (De La Salle), a squad that is expected to compete for a State title in Division 2. The Girls finished in 4th place in EBAL just behind Dougherty Valley.

In addition to Cross Country, the Football team also competed in the NCS playoffs. Despite a loss to defending state champion Acalanes, it was the team’s first postseason appearance in three years. Coach Napoleon Kaufman is looking forward to a full offseason with the team and working with the many returners to build off of this season’s successes and compete for an EBAL Valley Division title next season.
