It may be one of the most promising overall starts for Dublin High Athletics in school history, as the Dublin High School Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams all are still unbeaten as we approach Winter Break.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team notched two wins this week to improve their record to 3-0 overall, recording victories over American and Heritage. In Wednesday’s win against American, Emma San scored a goal in the opening minutes of the match and the Gaels held on for a 1-0 win. Dublin produced another shutout under soggy conditions on Saturday, defeating Heritage 3-0. The Gaels will be off until January 4th when it travels to face James Logan before a final nonleague tune-up at home against College Park on January 7th.
In other action on campus this Saturday, the Varsity Girls Basketball team defeated Kipp King 72-27in the 2nd Annual Dublin Winter Invitational that it hosted. The Gaels were also victorious over West High School on Wednesday, and like the Girls Soccer team also has an overall record that stands at 3-0. Dublin will be back in action this Wednesday, December 18th as it hosts Mission San Jose at 7:00.
The Varsity Boys Basketball team will also be home this week as it gears up to host the 19th Annual Don Nelson Classic (DNC). Dublin will come into the tournament with an impressive mark of 8-0 overall and is coming off of its second consecutive tournament title. After defeating California 54-45 to win the Napa Tournament, the Gaels defeated previously unbeaten Washington High School of Fremont 88-55 in the championship of their tournament to bring home another trophy. Dublin will open up the DNC by hosting Lathrop on Thursday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m.
Dublin’s Varsity Boys Soccer team was idle this week, but the unbeaten Gaels are gearing up for a busy week with three matches. The squad will be home on Wednesday, December 18th at 7:00 hosting Piedmont, and returns home on Friday against Heritage (7:00) following a trip to Antioch on Thursday night.
Congratulations are also in order for Dublin’s Freshmen Boys Basketball team, as they defeated Bishop O’Dowd in the finals to win the San Lorenzo Tournament title.
