It appeared that this Saturday, February 1st was going to be a quiet day on the Dublin High School campus as of two weeks ago. However, the Boys Soccer program and Girls Basketball program each added contests, and we now have a busy matinee slate.
The Varsity Boys Soccer team added a home match against Kennedy High School (Fremont) at 1:00. Dublin is facing a must-win scenario if they are going to have any chance at qualifying for the North Coast Section playoffs. The Gaels are currently 4-6-5 overall and have four matches in the final 8 days of the regular season to reach the qualifying .500 winning percentage
For the Girls Basketball teams, Saturday’s games are not an addition to the schedule but rather a change in venue. Originally scheduled to take place at Liberty High School in Brentwood, a gym conflict forced the games to be moved to Dublin High School. The Junior Varsity game will start at 1:30 while the Varsity game tips off at 3:00.
After victories this week over Amador Valley (73-29) and Bethel (55-24), Dublin improved to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the East Bay Athletic League entering tonight’s game at Granada. The Gaels are currently in 4th place in the EBAL standings, and if the Gaels can hold on to a top 4 finish in league will end up with a bye through the first two rounds of the EBAL tournament and will have an EBAL home playoff game on Wednesday, February 12th.
