The Dublin High School Baseball team has defied the odds and crept into the Bay Area News Group’s rankings of the top high school teams for the first time in recent memory. Dublin improved to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in the highly competitive East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) following a 4-2 win at Monte Vista on Friday afternoon.
Perhaps in defeat is where Dublin received even more recognition after a narrow 1-0 loss to De La Salle on Wednesday, which is always a traditional powerhouse. The Gaels have just one game this week at home on Tuesday, April 1st against Livermore (4:00) before heading into the Alhambra Easter Tournament.
Another team off to an incredible start to the season is Boys Volleyball, though they suffered a bit of a setback last week by falling to De La Salle and Amador Valley. At 14-3 overall, the Gaels are still in a great position to earn a high seed and make a potential run at EBAL and North Coast Section titles. Dublin will be taking on the defending champions Foothill on the road on Tuesday before returning home to host San Ramon Valley on Thursday, April 3rd (6:00).
The Dublin High Track and Field team is also off to a strong start coming off of impressive showings this weekend and will be at home on Wednesday, April 2nd in a Tri-Meet against Amador Valley and Granada. There will also be a home Tennis match on Wednesday, as the Gaels will host Foothill in a match that was rained out last week. Both events start at 4:00.
In other action on Wednesday, the Golf team will be playing in a Tri-Meet against Dougherty Valley and Monte Vista following a week in which it finished 6th out of 27 teams at the San Leandro Spring Classic. Aditya Das and Dario Diaz each shot a 73, and the Gaels posted their best score of the season at 394.
Dublin’s Stunt and Boys Lacrosse teams will have their final contests on Tuesday, April 1st before heading into Spring Break. Stunt will take on San Ramon Valley at Amador Valley at 4:30, while Boys Lacrosse travels to face Dougherty Valley at 7:00.
The Softball team has two away games before it heads into Spring Break. starting with a rematch at Livermore on Thursday. In a home game last Thursday, Dublin battled the defending EBAL champions tough before falling 6-4 to the Cowboys. The Softball wrap up the week at Liberty on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. The Swim team does not have any competitions until April 24th following the successful completion of Senior Day last Friday.
