Hockey Team Looks to Defend Crown, Big Wins for Boys and Girls Lacrosse, and Much More!

After winning the Tri-Valley Minor Hockey Association title last season with a 4-1 win over De La Salle in the Championship game last May, Dublin is back on the ice looking for its first ever back-to-back crowns in school history. The Gaels dropped their opener to the Spartans, but bounced back to defeat California 3-1 last night.

The Tri-Valley League largely mirrors the East Bay Athletic League in terms of the composition of schools participating, but it is technically a club sport not officially associated with EBAL or the CIF. As a club sport, there are some looser affiliations permitted, such as participants from neighboring schools being allowed to join. Examples of this include Emerald High School students on the Dublin High team, while students from East Contra Costa are part of Livermore High School’s squad.

All hockey games are held at Dublin Iceland on San Ramon Road in Dublin, typically on Saturdays and Sundays. Dublin will be back in action again this Sunday, April 6th against Foothill at 3:30.

In addition to Hockey earning its first win of the season on Tuesday night, Dublin’s Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams each recorded victories, as did the Girls Beach Volleyball and Stunt Cheer teams.

Dublin’s Boys Lacrosse team’s victory was in particularly dramatic fashion, defeating Dougherty Valley on the road 7-6 to earn the program’s first win in 2 years. The Girls Lacrosse team beat Foothill 11-6 at home to remain undefeated in EBAL at 3-0 heading into Spring Break. Dublin closes out the first half of the Valley Division on April 15th at home against Dougherty Valley in a game that will go a long way in determining the championship for the EBAL Valley Division.

Also remaining unbeaten was the Girls Beach Volleyball team, as they knocked off San Ramon Valley 3-0. The Gaels are 2-0 overall, maintaining their program’s perfect winning percentage and distinction as currently being the most successful program in school history! Speaking of history, Dublin’s Stunt Cheer team recorded its first ever victory over San Ramon Valley on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Wolves 15-13 to improve to 4-3 on the season and keep its EBAL playoff hopes alive.

Meanwhile, the rain caused havoc on some other scheduled action on Tuesday. The Varsity Baseball game at home against Livermore was postponed until Tuesday, April 15th, while the Junior Varsity game will be made up on April 28th at Livermore. The JV and Varsity Tennis matches against San Ramon Valley were about halfway completed before being rained out. They will both be made up after Spring Break at a date to be determined.

In other action, the Badminton team suffered its first loss of the year 11-6 at the hands of Foothill, while the Boys Volleyball team also lost to the Falcons in 5 sets to drop to 14-4 overall on the season.
