The Dublin High School Varsity Boys Volleyball team is making a final push for a top-8 seed and a home match in the North Coast Section Playoffs as it enters the final wee of the regular season.
Dublin improved to 17-7 overall and 7-5 in the East Bay Athletic League following a 4-set victory over Livermore on Thursday night. The Gaels final match of the regular season will be at Dougherty Valley on Tuesday, April 29th at 6:00 p.m. Although Dublin can still finish in a tie for 2nd place in the EBAL Valley Division with Foothill, the Gaels would lose the tiebreaker with the Falcons based on a loss in their most recent head-to-head matchup, meaning that it is no longer possible to qualify for the league playoffs.
The Gaels are currently clinging to the 8th seed in the North Coast Section Division 1 Maxpreps rankings, which is the determining factor for playoff seeding. If the Gaels can hold on to that spot, they will earn a home match in the first round of the NCS playoffs (provided they aren’t matched against a league champion). The NCS Tournament starts on May 6th, and if Dublin does get a home match it will need to take place in the Auxiliary Gym as the Sports Complex will be unavailable due to AP testing.
