The Dublin High Baseball and Softball teams both had games which went down to the final pitch before coming up short in East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) games late last week.
Dublin’s Softball team was trailing 11-3 after the first 3 innings against Monte Vista before storming back to score 5 runs and put the tying run up to bat before falling on the road to the Mustangs 11-8. The Gaels will be back in action at home on Tuesday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m. against Granada.
Meanwhile, Dublin High’s Baseball team once again celebrated Little League Day, which attracted hundreds of additional fans for its home game against Amador Valley on Friday. Kids participated in pregame festivities, a special barbecue was prepared by the Athletic Boosters, and players stuck around to sign autographs after the game.
Unfortunately, after a Dublin rally in the bottom of the 6th evened the score at 1-1, the Dons rallied for three runs of their own in the top of the 7th to come away with a 4-1 win to drop the Gaels to 16-5 overall on the season.
Despite the loss, Dublin still enters the week as the 6th-ranked team in the NCS according to Maxpreps, meaning the Gaels are still in position to potentially earn a home playoff game. The Gaels begin a two-game series against defending CIF/NorCal champion Granada on the road on Wednesday before returning home to face the Matadors on Senior Day on Friday, May 2nd at 4:00 (pre-game festivities at 3:30).
