It was a thrilling day for the Dublin High Track and Field program at the East Bay Athletic League Championships, as the Girls team came away with an EBAL title while the Boys finished 2nd at the May 9th event at Foothill High School.
The team competitions were close for both the Girls and the Boys, but the Girls team finished on top with 131 points to surpass Monte Vista who finished 2nd with 108 points. On the Boys side, the Gaels led throughout most of the Meet, but a push by De La Salle allowed them to finish in 1st place with 139 points compared to Dublin’s total of 110.
For the 3rd consecutive year, Emma San came away with a 1st place finish at EBAL. In fact, San finished 1st place in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump along with the 100m Hurdles. Aaliyah Hasni won the 100m and 200m events, and was also a part of the 4×100 Relay team with Josephine Bayer, Naeemah Grant-Gurganlous, and Kayci Phillips which also took first place. Bayer also won the 400m, while Miranda Howeth won the Pole Vault, and the team of Melia Prenton, Taylor Sullivan, Lelia Reddi, and Magana Yarelli won the 4x800m Relay.
On the Boys’ side, Nathaniel Maddux won the Long Jump and 110m Hurdles, Emmanual Armas won the Shot Put, and Matthew Loo won the Pole Vault
In addition to Dublin’s 1st place finishers, Dublin had nearly 100 athletes in total qualify to advance to next weekend’s North Coast Section Tri-Valley Regional Championships, which will take place on Saturday, May 17th at Clayton Valley High School. The top performers at that event will advance to the NCS Meet of Champions on the weekend of May 23-24 at Dublin High School, and the top performers at MOC will advance to the CIF State Meet at Buchanan High School in Clovis the weekend of May 30-31.
