This is a big week for Dublin High Athletics, as all winter sports begin East Bay Athletic League play.
The action starts TODAY (Thursday, January 9th) as Boys Soccer and Wrestling are both at home. The JV Boys Soccer team comes into the season undefeated at 5-0-1 and hosts Livermore at 4:30, followed by the Varsity team (1-1-4) taking the pitch at 6:30.
Meanwhile, Dublin’s Boys and Girls JV Wrestling team take the mat at 6:00 in the Sports Complex followed by the Varsity teams at approximately 7:00. This will be the first of two EBAL dual meets taking place at home this season, and several wrestlers have enjoyed recent success in some prestigious tournaments in preparation for earning bids to the North Coast Section and State tournaments.
The Girls Soccer teams also open up EBAL at Livermore on Thursday. The JV finished the preseason with a winning record, and the Varsity team defeated College Park 1-0 in their final tune-up on Tuesday to take a 4-1 overall record and a little bit of momentum into EBAL.
Dublin’s Basketball teams open up EBAL on Friday as they take on Livermore (Girls at home, Boys on the road). Both programs had unprecedented success in the preseason, with the Varsity Boys taking in a 14-1 overall record while the Varsity Girls enter EBAL with a mark of 10-0 overall. The JV and Freshmen Boys also posted tournament championships, and the JV Girls finish the preseason at 8-1 overall.
There will be a special opportunity to see all of Dublin’s Boys and Girls basketball teams in action this Saturday, January 11th, as the Gaels host 5 consecutive games against Freedom High School. The slate of games begins with the Freshmen Boys at 12:00 followed by the JV Boys at 1:30. There will then be a rare opportunity to see the Varsity Boys and Girls in rare back-to-back games with the Varsity Boys tipping off at 3:00 and the Varsity Girls game starting at 4:30. The day concludes with the JV Girls game at 6:00
